Geeks at the Colbert Report?

I was watching yesterday’s Colbert Report (19th July 2007), and I noticed a string of ones and zeros sliding across the bottom of an item about “March to Enslavement”.

Binary string on the Colbert Report

Under the rant about ”$100 LAPTOPS
0010010000110001001100000011000000100000010011000100000101010000010101000
Under the rant about “APPLE”
0100000101010000010100000100110001000101

When you slice these strings up in blocks of 8 ones and zeros (a byte) and interpret those bytes as commonly used ASCII encoding you get the following phrases.

$100 LAPT
APPLE

Coincidence? You decide. To me it looks like there are a buch of geeks somewhere on Colbert’s production team.
